2nd Peter 3

THIS second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Welcome to Bible Baptist of Belzview!

God wants you to spend eternity with Him in Heaven through faith in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.  He tells us that we are to publish this good news to the world. That’s the purpose of this ministry. Also, we are to encourage believers to read and follow the Bible. We try to post a chapter of the Bible about once per week.  God might ask you who claim to love Him, “Have you read my book?”

When you leave this planet, you will spend eternity in Heaven or Hell – there is no other choice. Many think that when they die, God will let them into Heaven because they are basically a good person, or they were sincere in what they believed (no matter how wrong it was), or because their good deeds will outweigh their bad deeds, or maybe they think it’s because they go to or belong to a church (or their parents did) or because they’ve been baptized.  Many think that because “God is love” He would never send someone to the everlasting torment of Hell. These people are wrong, because to go to Heaven a person has to be sinless. The Bible tells us that we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s standards1 .  So that means we need a Way to become sinless. Jesus Christ is that Way2.  He died on a cross to pay the penalty for our sins.  He was buried and was resurrected three days later3 . All those who truly repent(this means to be sorry for one’s sins and turn from wanting to sin and turn to Christ), truly believe this Gospel5 , and place their trust in Him for forgiveness of their sins6 will be saved and spend eternity in Heaven.

Romans 6:23   For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
2. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
3. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4   For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
4. Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.  Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
5. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
6. 1 John 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
